Fall Poem

Summer is ended and the clouds beneath the skin
begin to creep into the mist-filled mind

Rain behind the eyes screens off the world outside
and the heart is washed away down a long grey river

Only the leaves still green outside the window
provide an anchor for the shipwrecked self.
